Where it is performed

In the operating room or in the consulting room.

What is intrauterine insemination (IUI)?

Intrauterine insemination is a low-complexity procedure in which the semen sample is processed in the laboratory and placed into the uterus during the ovulation window, shortening the distance sperm must travel.

Who is it indicated for?

May be indicated for mild male factor, cervical factor, unexplained infertility, or when using donor sperm, provided the fallopian tubes are patent.

Insemination requires at least one patent tube and a semen sample with sufficient parameters; your physician confirms both with tests before scheduling it.
