In vitrofertilization (IVF)
Controlled ovarian stimulation to support the development of mature eggs, which are then fertilized in the laboratory and cultured until they reach the stage of embryo development suitable for assessment and transfer or cryopreservation.
Estimated duration
The active ovarian stimulation phase usually lasts approximately 10 to 14 days, followed by follicular aspiration and embryo culture in the laboratory.
Clinical area
Ovarian stimulation is supervised in consultation with your treating physician using ultrasound and some laboratory tests. On average you will come in for review two to three times over these 10 to 14 days.
Where it is performed
It is performed in an operating room used exclusively for fertility procedures, free of bacteria, fungi, parasites and airborne particles. Follicular aspiration is an outpatient procedure lasting approximately twenty minutes, under sedation.
Support
The medical team and PLANEA staff will provide comprehensive, close follow-up throughout your treatment. Our commitment is to guide you through clear, transparent and timely communication.
What is in vitro fertilization (IVF)?
In vitro fertilization is a high-complexity assisted reproduction procedure in which the eggs are fertilized by the sperm in the laboratory, where different techniques may be used, such as conventional in vitro fertilization, ICSI and/or PICSI, according to the characteristics of the eggs and sperm. Through these techniques a pregnancy can be achieved where it would not be possible naturally.
Who is it indicated for?
May be considered in cases of tubal factor, male factor, endometriosis, low ovarian reserve, unexplained infertility, or when previous treatments have not resulted in pregnancy.
We work, step by step
- 1Initial evaluation and testing for both partners
- 2Ovarian stimulation with ultrasound monitoring
- 3Follicular aspiration and semen sample collection
- 4Laboratory fertilization and embryo culture
- 5Embryo transfer or vitrification (freezing). Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) and sex selection
- 6Pregnancy test 7 days after your embryo transfer
The active ovarian stimulation phase usually lasts approximately 10 to 14 days, followed by follicular aspiration and embryo culture in the laboratory. When preimplantation genetic testing, vitrification, or a deferred transfer are performed, treatment extends into a subsequent cycle. Your physician will outline your specific timeline at your evaluation.
Technology and technique at CEMPI
Selection of the best embryos
At CEMPI, the embryology laboratory closely supervises embryo development: embryos are assessed and graded according to their morphology, classifying the best embryos to be used later.
Incubators
We have specialized incubators that maintain the right conditions for embryo development, aiming to match the conditions and processes normally found in the female body.
Cryopreservation (freezing)
We currently use techniques that pause cell development indefinitely through freezing, preserving embryos, eggs and sperm for days, months or years.
Invasive and non-invasive preimplantation genetic diagnosis
Preimplantation genetic diagnosis can assess the number of chromosomes or detect a particular genetic disease, and it can currently be performed with two techniques.
- Embryo biopsya laser is used to take a portion of six to eight cells from the periphery of the embryo on day five of development.
- Non-invasive preimplantation genetic testing (PGTni)genetic material released by the embryo into the culture medium is collected and analyzed to determine each embryo's chromosomal status and sex.

Cost and financial planning
The cost of your treatment will depend on the indicated procedure and the particular characteristics of your case. At PLANEA, the area specializing in preparing and presenting financial proposals, you will receive clear, transparent information about your treatment investment and the available alternatives.
Your financial advisor will accompany you through this process, helping you understand the different payment options and choose the one that best suits you.
Through CEMPI and PLANEA, we offer financing options over 2, 4, 6 and 9 months*, as well as payment by bank credit cards.

Questions about in vitro fertilization (IVF)
Everything starts with an initial consultation: your treating physician reviews your history, tests and goals, and from there defines with you whether in vitro fertilization (IVF) is the best option for your case.
