The active ovarian stimulation phase usually lasts approximately 10 to 14 days, followed by follicular aspiration and embryo culture in the laboratory. When preimplantation genetic testing, vitrification, or a deferred transfer are performed, treatment extends into a subsequent cycle. In conventional IVF, eggs and sperm are placed together in the laboratory. In ICSI, a selected sperm is injected directly into the egg; it is usually considered for male factor or previous cycles with low fertilization. Your physician will determine which applies to your case.
